online Candidates’ forum: how it works
The U. S. primary and general elections of 2020 will be more difficult this year because of the current international health crisis. Many candidates will try to run virtual campaigns, limit their appearances to online media, and connect with voters by unique means. In-person forums, discussions, and debates will be limited or cancelled. So the LWV is going to create an online candidates’ forum for voter education.
This will be a space for local, state, and CD2 (Second Congressional District of the House of Representatives) candidates to connect with voters, introduce themselves and start an online dialogue of questions and answers. For each contested office (two or more candidates for a non-partisan position, or two or more candidates from each political party for a position) on the primary ballot (May 19, 2020), you will find a separate page (see links below).
Check the page for the office you would like to learn more about. There you will find information submitted by all candidates who choose to participate. You will see their photo, contact information, and either a recorded (video) or written introduction. They will also answer a question posed by the LWV Klamath County pertinent to that office.
At the bottom of each page, find a moderated forum where you may ask relevant questions and see answers that candidates have posted. This forum is moderated: all derogatory, offensive, vulgar, defamatory, or off-topic posts will be removed. This is a space to address the candidates, not a place to air your personal grievances.
